Rocker Bret Michaels has been rushed to the hospital and is in intensive care with a brain hemorrhage.

Bret had an excruciating headache late last night and was rushed to a hospital where they found that he suffered bleeding at the base of his brain stem.

"After several CAT scans, MRIs and an angiogram, [doctors] decided to keep Michaels in the ICU and are running several tests to determine the cause. [It] will be touch and go for the next few days while he is under intense observation," the source says.

Bret was in the midst of recovering from an appendectomy on April 12.

Bret's rep has released this statement today:

"He's still in the ICU, but he's stable"

Earlier today Bret's dad shared that the singer was making a bit of progress.

"He understood what he was saying and knew me. Everything seemed good that way...They say he's moving his arms and hands," he says. "The best as they could expect at this time.

"

It's good news that he's stabilizing. We wish him a quick recovery.
